Angus Benfield Wins Best Director For HEAVEN At the Canadian Faith And Family Film Festival Awards, 2020.

2020 has been a very successful year for Director Angus Benfield and the HEAVEN movie, even in the face of Covid with Heaven wrapping shooting just 2 days before the first lockdown. 

​

During Lockdown HEAVEN's Director Angus Benfield won the Best Director award at the Canadian International Faith and Family Film Festival, presented to him by actor, director and producer Kevin Sorbo. 

​

Benfield was up against some stiff competition with 8 other nominees in the Best Director category, including Nick Loeb and Cathy Ally for Roe V Wade, Ruut Ahonen for One Ruler: The Power of The Persecuted Church, Kyle Lawrence for Identity, Miles Matsuno for Christmas In July, Bradley Hawkins for Calf Rope, Josh Menning for Song Of The tree Frogs, Leigh Murphy for Bury It and Troy Sweeny for A Fighting Chance. Benfield was also nominated for Best Lead Actor, with Heaven also nominated for Best Picture and Best Family Film.

 

Hollywood Icon Keifer Sutherland also received the lifetime achievement award at this year's festival.

Benfield received his award through video from home due to the festival being all online this year because of Covid. In his acceptance speech, Benfield mentioned that he was "humbled" to receive the award and thanked the Canadian International faith and family Film Festival for the honor. He went on to thank his family for supporting him, and his DP Cliff Goldsmith and the Heaven team, saying that "even though I get the award for Best Director, there wouldn't be a Best Director award or anything to see without this great team." Benfield went on to say that he felt more like a "coach or a captain of a team," and that "the team also deserve this award."
